FAQ

Products

Is your produce organic?

Much of it is. Availability of organic produce varies seasonally, so we often select locally grown, pesticide-free produce rather than certified-organic produce shipped from far away. Our cold-pressed juices and Production Facility are USDA Certified Organic.

Is every juice made fresh to order?

Yes. Every Juice Generation juice is made the moment you order it. We recommend drinking them soon after purchasing to get the maximum amount of nutrients, which tend to break down slightly on exposure to air.

What's the difference between Juice Generation and Cooler Cleanse juices?

Juice Generation juices are made to order on efficient, centrifugal juicers which extract juice from fruits and vegetables by spinning them through blades. The bottled Cooler Cleanse juices on sale in our store refrigerators come from our sister company, Cooler Cleanse. These Organic Certified cold-pressed juices are made in a labor-intensive method at our Long Island City facility. The method presses produce under great pressure to extract the juice, which preserves the highest nutritional content possible and delivers pulp-free juices that are superb for detoxification programs. Some people prefer the pressed juices as their daily drink, which is why we sell them in the stores. These elixirs can retain full nutritional value for three days when unopened.

Please note that all Cooler Cleanse purchases made at Juice Generation are subject to the ordering and refund policies as dictated by Cooler Cleanse: find them here.

Do you have gluten-free offerings?

Yes! All our juices and smoothies are gluten-free. (Wheatgrass, despite its name, does not contain gluten.) We also offer a range of gluten-free snacks and baked goods.

Are your Acai Bowls gluten-free?

Although the ingredients in our hemp granola do not include wheat or any gluten-containing products, the granola is not certified gluten-free as it is not produced in a gluten-free facility. The granola contains rolled oats and as this can sometimes bring gluten cross-contamination, those with serious gluten intolerances should avoid this product. The granola is certified organic and GMO free.

Are your juices and smoothies vegan?

Yes. The only one that is not vegan is “Protein Knock-Out,” which contains whey protein.

What type of almond milk do you use?

Our vanilla almond milk is non-dairy and vegan.

What type of soy milk do you use?

Our vanilla soy milk is non-dairy, organic and vegan.

What is agave nectar?

Agave nectar is a plant-derived sweetener with a light, caramel taste, made from the same plant used to make tequila. We use just a little to balance the flavors in some of our juices and smoothies. But if you don’t want any added sweetener, let us know and we can leave it out.

What is açaí?

Açaí, known as a “superfruit,” is a deep reddish purple berry native to Central and South America and a potent source of antioxidants. Its sweet, rich, almost chocolatey flavor is featured in our smoothies, and the main ingredient in our Açaí Bowls. The açaí we serve is certified organic and blended with guarana for energy.

What is hemp protein?

Hemp protein is derived from the plant Cannabis sativa and used widely as a high-quality, vegan-friendly alternative to meat and dairy protein sources. (The protein does not contain THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, so you won’t get high from eating it!) As a complete protein, it contains the essential amino acids that our bodies cannot produce. We use non-GMO hemp seeds free of animal products, corn, dairy, eggs, fillers, gluten, soy, wheat and yeast.

What is pitaya?

Also known as dragon fruit, this unusual-looking beauty is native to Central America and packed with antioxidants, fiber, and vitamin C, and may lower cholesterol. We use it in our Pink Pitaya coco blend.

What is spirulina?

Spirulina is a blue-green algae rich in protein, vitamins, minerals, carotenoids and antioxidants that can have protective benefits on the body, plus nutrients such as beta-carotene, mood-boosting B vitamins, manganese, zinc, and essential fatty acids.

What is wheatgrass?

This alkalizing, nutrient-rich grass is a powerful detoxifier and an excellent source of iron, calcium, magnesium, amino acids, and chlorophyll. While it is part of the wheat family, wheatgrass is gluten free. Try it in our Wheatgrass shot and Pure Energy juice.

How do you calculate the nutritional information?

It’s calculated from Juice Generation recipes using ESHA Research’s The Food Processor SQL software. All data is rounded to meet current U.S. FDA NLEA guidelines. Due to the handcrafted nature of our juices and smoothies, actual nutritional values may vary slightly. To view nutritional information for individual products, please view the nutritional profiles for each product on our menu.

Why do you only offer one size smoothie?

Our recipes are standardized for quality and consistency at 24 oz so that you’re guaranteed a delicious drink every time. We’re happy to split our regular size into two 12oz cups if you’d like to share it.

Why do you use frozen fruit in your smoothies?

We freeze bananas and some other fruits because it makes for thicker, tastier smoothies—and lets us source quality ingredients year round.

What if I don't like very cold smoothies?

We do add ice for thicker, colder smoothies—but if you’d like us to leave it out, just ask!

Why can't I always get the sandwich I want at your store?

Because our sandwiches are prepared fresh every morning and we usually sell out after lunch.

Where do you prepare your sandwiches, salads and soups?

Our central commissary in Long Island City delivers them to our Manhattan stores every morning.

Store Policies

Can I call in advance to place my order?

Yes, we’re happy to do that. We do prioritize in-store customers, however, so please ask how busy we are if you are very pressed for time.

Can you juice my produce if I bring it to you?

No, we can’t. To ensure safety and cleanliness, we can only serve the produce that we purchase and clean ourselves.

Can I add my own powder or medication to the smoothie?

When you have the drink in your hands you can do whatever you want! But it’s against the law for us to take anything from you—produce, powders, supplements—to process through our machines. Our counter only works in one direction—from us to you.

Why do you charge sales tax?

It is New York State law and we pay this tax to the State.

Why don’t you accept $100 bills?

Sorry for the inconvenience, but we can’t take them because of problems with counterfeit bills. The largest bill we can accept is a $50.

Do you have public bathrooms?

Unfortunately, no. The NYC Health Department does not allow us to make our staff bathroom available to the public.

Can I bring my dog into the store?

We love animals, but the NYC Department of Health has forbidden us to allow dogs in our stores.

Can I bring my bike into the store?

Please leave your bike outside. Our stores are small, and we need as much room as we can to accommodate juice-thirsty folks.

Do you offer a delivery service?

While we don’t deliver from Juice Generation stores, we do offer juice-delivery through our sister company, Cooler Cleanse, where you can get the premium, fresh-pressed juices and raw foods delivered to your door.

Company Information

Do you sell gift cards?

Yes. Gift cards are available in any amount and valid at any Juice Generation location.

Do you offer discounts for frequent customers?

As our quality ingredients have significant costs, we strive to keep prices down across the board, which means we cannot offer special discounts.

Do you offer off-site catering?

Not at this time.

Is Juice Generation a franchise, or part of a chain?

Nope. We’ve proudly been independently owned and operated in NYC since 1999 and intend to stay that way.

Do you offer franchise stores?

We do not offer franchise opportunities. But thanks for asking.
